Killer Testimonials!
Real things, said by real people. I'm not makin' this stuff up.
As a culinary nutritionist, I recommend Dave’s Killer Bread to many of my clients who are looking for an alternative to the processed, artificially flavored breads sold in the food stores. Dave’s Breads are loaded with whole grains, fiber, protein and Omega 3’s-what a great way to incorporate all of these essentials into your day by simply enjoying a slice (or two) of Dave’s organic breads. My favorite part of Dave’s philosophy is that these delicious breads are sweetened with organic molasses, cane juice and natural fruit juices…what more can you ask for? I know my clients and I choose Dave’s Killer bread over any store bought purchase…these breads aren’t called ‘Killer’ for nothing—they’re a nutritional powerhouse!

Dear Dave: we have discovered your bread & there is none-other like it! We've left our favorite bread company here in Eugene (Great Harvest) & promote yours - this is what I do: At Market of Choice........I put 2 loaves in my basket & re-arrange the rest for good display - (if someone is around I tell them about your bread) then at the check stand, I ask the checker why your bread is on the TOP shelf & not as accessable as it should be............ The SEED bread is our favorite but also buy the RYE for sandwiches - The SEED bread is absolutely the best bread in the world - we have a house in Surprise (Phoenix, Az.) area - I take 3 loaves with me on the airplane to last us while we are there as I cannnnnnot buy that quality there..........Dave, try grinding almonds for Almond Butter - spread on bread/dust with cinnamon - slice banana on it - that's the KILLER BREAKFAST...... We bought the Bosh Breadmaker while at a cooking shop in Arizona.......my husband is the breadmaker; however, since discovering your bread, he's stopped making bread.
Hooked on your Killer Seed Bread - Tony & Karoline
Just writing to say thank you. I just took a loaf of your bread with me on vacation to the caribbean, home for mothers day, and I'm going to send some to my dad for a retirement present so he can commence to loafing around with good bread. He's the one who got me hooked on good bread ya see and when I found your bread I just had to tell him about it. Eating your bread makes me very happy and knowing that you accomplished so much battling adversity gives me hope for all the other people in this world who are still trying.
You're awesome and it is the best bread I've ever had.
I was on vacation, and when I got home, the mail lady brought me a package from my Nephew and his wife from Buxton, Or.. In it was lots of your products and I must say, that is KILLER BREAD. The Good Seed is awesome. I will have to have them send me some every week. We need it in So. Calif.
Thanks, Pat
Hi Dave and team!
We weren't even looking for healthy bread when we found yours at the Vancouver Farmers Market. Now we are steadily eating three loaves a week!
My kids, ages 1 and 2, will not eat any other bread now. I think we have tried every kind that you make, and your bread is, without a doubt, the best bread we have ever eaten! Thank you so much for making such awesome bread, we will never buy another brand again!
Take care,
The Olinger Family
All Hail Dave's Killer Bread!! It really is killer, really.
My ex was allergic to wheat so I'm hip to the spelt bread and always in search of one that isn't boring. Your seedy spelt bread is just what I've been searching for! IT IS SO GOOD!!! I don't even care that it's almost 5 bucks a loaf, well worth it.
I was at a bbq last weekend and a friend brought a burger to grill but instead of burger buns she had a little zip lock with two pieces of good lookin' bread inside. I said "Hey, is that Killer Bread?!" and sure enough it was. My friend had discovered your bread too and she eats nothing else now.
You have one crazy life story, my friend. I sure am glad you got back on the right track and are sharing your amazing talent with all of us. Mom nature included.
Thanks!!
Tiffany
Dave,
I have emailed you before. Great job with the bread. Nice to see an individual meld wholesome food and smart business with environmental concerns. I hope you are making a ton of money. It is simply excellent!
Just a note to you that I have not purchased another brand of bread for well over a year. I pay the premium, but it is worth it.
Put this note in your comments on yourwebsite.

Just a comment, Dave - Sitting here enjoying an incredible slice of your spelt bread. Just recently started a wheat/sugar/dairy free diet and felt like life was pretty much over! It's not, your bread is truly killer, what a great taste, aroma and bite! Yay! Thanks so much, I'm gonna send some to my SIL in NY, she and her kids have been wheat free for years, she will love it! Keep up the good work! (DH & I are clean & sober many years now - I love to hear stories of us addicts/drunks doing well, Peace be with you!)
Dave's Killer Bread end piece is the only end piece of bread that our family has ever fought over. It's the best part of the loaf. The end piece of every other bread usually feeds the birds or ends up in the garbage, but not Dave's Killer Bread. The end piece is prized!

Hey Dave,
My wife picked up some of your bread at New Seasons ( I think the name caught her eye), and this is really good bread! You now have 4 more fans!
Kudos to you on turning your life around! You have my respect. Life is about seizing the moment when it comes, as you did whenyour call came.We picked up and moved our family from Toronto to Portland a couple of months back ( can't say I miss the winter!). We've been coming out here for years to visit family, and finally said enough of Toronto and the stuff we don't like about it, let's move to Portland where the lifestyle is more our speed. Sold there, bought here...starting over...seizing the moment. No regrets.
We will continue to support you and your bakery, and perhaps we could come visit the bakery sometime. I know my 2 little one would get a kick out of it!
Much Respect,
Shaun
P.S. I have more time to play my guitar now as well!
Dear Dave:
I am not from this area. I am visiting relatives before heading to New Zealand and beyond to do volunteer work. Last WednesdayI was driving my uncle's car down the street ( kind, generous relatives!) on Halsey, when I spotted the sandwich board "best bread in Portland". I drove past, and decided I should check it out, and found my way back to your factory. Ah, the power of good advertising!
I bought a loaf of Nuts and Grains bread, and a pack of cranberry orange muffins, after sampling them in the store.(free samples, the bestmarketing tool every invented). I ate a slice of bread in the car, and was impressed. Now, 6 days later, your bread is still just as moist and delicious. I have now decided that your bread is the best bread I have ever eaten, and I have eaten bread in at least 25 countries around the world. The muffins have proven to be too heavy to eat a whole one in one sitting, but in smaller doses, are magnificent as well.
I have made a couple new local converts for you, and now it is time to fly. I look forward to the day you license someone in New Zealand to make your bread for you there. You will have a good market there as well as the US.
And sincere congratulations on leaving your past life for something somuch better. Your brother loves you very, very much.
Sincerely,
Diane
Dave,
I buy your bread at Market of Choice in Eugene and love it.... have converted my wife ....
Keep us stocked..
Walt
Dave,
Your bread rocks!
Thanks :)

Dave Darlin'!
We got your bread the other day...YUM....we're eating it right now for breakfast. Blues Bread with peanut butter. Delicious. We gave a loaf and a flyer to our neighbor, Brian. I['m going to hand out flyers at work also, and I'll bring in some samples. Should I bring a loaf and a flyer to the Co-Op here? Or do you have another avenue for promoting your stuff to stores? Here's their website, let me know what I can do to help: http://www.madisonmarket.com/
Have a great holiday and we'll chat soon.
Much Love,
Sara, Kriss and Devin
Dave,
I have nothing to ask you, just two comments.
1) I am one of those that appreciates your support of KPOJ (620AM). I am also one of those people reached by your ads on-air, and your video clip on the KPOJ website (just a note to let you know that your advertising dollars are working!).
2) I'm glad I DID hear you ad. This is some of the best blinking bread I have ever had. Slightly sweet, nutty, awesome. I can say that I finally have found a bread that is more than a vehicle to get sandwitch fillings into my face. Actually - now that I think about it, I have yet to make a sandwich. I keep eating it straight-up.
Let's see - local small company; wholesome, organic breads (that *are* killer); ex-con working hard and doing well; and an apparent love of raccoons. You have found another loyal customer. Thanks, and keep up the killer work.
Peace - Shawn R
PS. I lied about the question bit - (sorry if it's in your FAQ - I will check that) Any plans to make similarly killer rolls, baguettes, etc.?
Hi Dave - your bread looks gorgeous and delicious - when do we get to try it in California? I'm in Mill Valley in the Bay Area just north of S.F.
Thanks for your good work and for advertizing on thoms show!
Yours truly,
Kathleen
i just discovered your bread at new seasons (i was drawn to it at first by the fun drawings on the bag!) and i love it!!! its my new favorite and even
my husband, who normally thinks whole wheat seedy bread is too dense and "brick-like", loves it...its light and fluffy enough for him. the only sad thing is, we live in Alaska and are just passing thru visiting friends...i am afraid i wont be able to find your bread up north :( so sad....
anyway, just wanted to let you know you're doing a fabulous job!!
thanks so much, tamara egans harper
Your story is very inspirational and I enjoy your killer bread a lot. The taste and texture is rich, healthy and high fiber. Just wanted to thank you for the delicious bread.
My daughter moved to Portland last summer and discovered your bread at the Farmer's Market. She has brought it home to us in Bend on occasion. We love it! Sure wish we could buy it in Bend. May have to go with the order by mail option you have. Thanks for making such a "killer" loaf of bread!
Dave,
My wife and I discovered your bread at Lifesource in Salem, and we've been unable to buy any other bread ever since. Your bread is the best I've ever tasted. It's full of great ingredients, moist, and I haven't seen a slice go bad before I can eat it. We especially enjoy your Blues Bread and Nuts and Grains bread. You've changed the way that I think about bread. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
Hi Dave,
I love your bread--the cracked wheat is wonderful.
It must be the perfect bread. It has taste, texture, is not too salty, is cooked until it is done (which is not the case with almost all breads out there) and yet it is not the slightest bit too dry. I do not know how you do it, but I love it and will buy it whenever I can get it.
Do you ever make rolls? They would be quite a hit.
Thanks for the best bread I have ever tasted since I was a child and my Mother made whole wheat rolls that filled the house with the most wonderful aroma and of course tasted fabulous.
- Marolyn
Dave,
Your bread is amazing! You had samples at a market in Portland today. I bought two loaves and it will not be my last. I can not wait to tell my family and friends. Soooooooo glad you turned your life around and we are all getting blessed from it.
Take care,
- your fan
Hello Dave,
I just wanted you to know it's the s**ts to have to drive to Portland for a decent loaf of bread. Ben (Big Ben) went to Portland Sunday and my only request was PLEASE BRING HOME SOME LOAVES OF DAVE'S BREAD.
The freezer is stocked again for a while. The day just doesn't begin without a slice of your bread--warm toast.
Yummmmmm
- Nikki Jones (Big Ben's wife)
I just wanted to write and say that my whole family has discovered your line of breads, and they are – every single slice! – wonderful!
Thank you for making such nourishing, wonderful food, and for being such an inspiring figure in the process.
Best regards,
- Greg Rucka
How could you be doing drugs and all that bad (stuff) when you are an artist! And I haven’t even heard your music! Glad you are in a very positive direction!!
I plan to talk to New Seasons and insist they keep your bread on the shelves. I am going to spread this all over Intel!
Fantastic bread!
Keep cool!
- Bob
yo dave,
just wanted to give you a shout out and a thanks for making my most favorite bread EVER. I'm so happy I can support local sustainable bussiness, prison reform and feed my family with yummy yummy organicbread.
my current fav is the nuts and grain. The end piece is the best. Just got through eating a turkey, cheddar and avacado sammy on it.
Rock on brother!
Thank you for your awesome products and for sharing your story with us all! We love getting your bread here in Eugene; we are averaging 2 loaves a week and going strong! Your story is very inspiring, and you should be very proud of yourself. I hope you make lots of money, (legit this time around). Best wishes for continued success!!
- Marianne
Dave--
I've eaten a lot of bread in my 50 years, and yours is absolutely the best I've ever tasted. I don't think you could possibly improve it, so please don't try.
I love it for the taste, and the fact that it's bread with substance. I work long hours, so I need a hefty bread for my sandwiches, and this one does it. Also, I'm vegan, and it's so cool to find a new great vegan item. I think I could win over a few omnivores with this stuff. Keep it up.
- Another David
Hey Dave - and team,
I truly love the Rockin Rye - and with just one bite - have converted others from the namby-pamby white bread community. Your bread just might save their lives. I also tagged an item on it to my Green Innovations Blog entry today, over at: http://360.yahoo.com/pdx.jules. I love: Every. Single. Bite!

note to fellow Cheapos: Dave's Bread is worth a little extra dough. It is FOOD.
My husband Don actually had the pleasure of running into Dave at the Corvallis First Alternative, and visiting with him. We wants the rest of you to know that his bread is just a wonder. We actually feel better since we've started eating only his nuts and grains bread, and find it well worth its low price. And it doesn't mold on us? Huh? Don't know how he manages that, but we frequently have cravings for this wonderful stuff, and it's always fresh and delicious. Do yourself a favor! Buy lots of it! Best wishes to Dave and his organization, a very fine addition to the Oregon world of bread.
- Susan and Don, Corvallis Oregon
Dave (And all wonderful hands that help), Hubby and I are trying to lose weight, and were highly discouraged with the drywall flavored whole grain breads on the market (needed to replace the high-fat, white pulpy stuff we were eating).. we found you at the Vancouver Market, smelled the fine aroma from down the street, and were sold. WE ONLY eat your breads now, and are totally fond of your 21grain. Dunno if it'll help us lose weight - DO know we're doing ourselves better for it and loving every bite!! THANK YOU...
- C & J
DKB is the best ever. It's so good we've sworn off others and when we moved to Seattle we had to buy fifty bucks worth of the goodness and stick it in our deep freezer so we wouldn't be denied our new addiction. Should last about a week.
- Kriss and Sara
I think that you should change your name from Dave to LIAR… because you have to be telling LIES! There is no way that you can make such DELICIOUS bread from healthy organic ingredients. I mean what makes you so special, [bread company] and [another bread company] can't make a healthy good tasting bread, so why can you. I do have to say, that even though I don't know if I necessarily believe your so-called list of ingredients, I am HOOKED and will continue to buy your bread from the Orenco New Seasons.
Thanks a LOT! Tommy V.
Tommy…Your letter is one of the funnier ones I have received. Please rest assured that the ingredient list you are reading is correct. The grains and seeds used in my bread are 100% organic. Most of my breads are over 95% organic, meaning that everything but the yeast and salt are organic (there is currently no source of organic yeast and salt). In the Nuts and Grains Bread and Power Seed Bread, the nuts and the fruit juice are “natural”, but not organic. I think my bread’s the best tasting and most nutritious and satisfying out there, organic or otherwise. Looks like you agree! Great letter, thanks! Dave
Dave,
I tried one of your "killer" loaves (21-grain) for the first time and rank it among the best breads ever.
Awesome product - keep up the good work!
- Joel
One word: AWESOME! Excellent job! I'm hooked on your breads.
- Glenn
I had a dinner party last weekend and bought a baguette for my guests and put a few slices of the Killer Blues Bread in as well. Baguette was not touched and everyone raved about yours.
- Bonnie
Hi Dave!
I was introduced to your Rockin Rye Bread 3 weeks ago as you were giving out samples at the New Season's in Sellwood. I ate some slammin' Rueban sandwhich's for the next 3 days!
I picked up another loaf on Friday..this time your label sparked interest and I paid attention to it's contents. What I read made me a loyal customer. I get the best bread I have ever tasted AND support a beautiful strong soul? Perfect! Doesn't get any better. :0) Be proud, stay strong and keep rockin'!
- Lisa
Hi Dave.
My name is Rachelle. I just got some of your good seed bread at the Broadway Fred's... I have to admit Dave..I thought to myself...that's alot of money for a loaf of bread...I too bake breads so I am use to eating it for cheaper. However, when i saw that bread I knew it was special..
I read the mini version of your story on the back of the bread and then I made my boyfriend and my roomate read it and then it was final...I had to try [the bread] made by the guy who liked to get high and then learned to get by a whole new way.. You are awesome and your bread is super delicious. I toasted it in my oven on a baking stone and slapped some vegan butter on top...wow man that is awesome! I am totally gonna try the rye now cuz I f**king hate rye. Way to go Dave.
- Love Rachelle
Dave,
You are seeking to make the best bread, I think you got it. My family and I think yours is the best bread on the shelf.
- Mike
Dave,
Just wanted to say that "killer" doesn't even begin to describe the awesomeness of your bread. I bought a loaf of your 100% whole grain cracked wheat last week from the co-op here in Corvallis, but this week I decided to mix it up and buy a loaf of good seed. Let me just say that this is the best load of bread I have ever tried in my entire life. I've owned it for a little less than 48 hours and it's half gone. I'm just coming up with random excuses to eat it. Toast breaks every 20 minutes? Sure!
Really, I've never even felt compelled to send an email about bread before until now.
-Rick
dave,
me and my lady just found your bread in the natures store on portland blvd...tastes real good, had to open it when we got home and try it. we also checked out your web site and read your story, so good on you for giving back and geting going with a better path. i'm a musician too, i play in a rock band called the decemberists for what it's worth.
Best,
- Chris
Hi Dave,
Just wanted to let you know we really enjoy your bread. We started out getting it because it was on sale at New Seasons. Sale or no sale, we are on our third loaf. So far we've tried the 21 whole grain (my favorite), good seed, and nuts & grains, and can't wait to try the others.
- Nova & Kevin.
Hey Dave,
I'm Phil, a vegan oregonian college student that loves to cook, try new foods, exercise, blah blah. Your story and down to earth approach caught my attention so I gave your "Good Seed" bread a shot. Quite a shot that was! This is the best bread I've ever had - killer indeed! Great texture, flavor, wholesome nuttiness and vegan :). It's good to know that there are still REAL people out there,
Phil
Your bread has really brought my husband, a plain white bread lover, and me, a maximum grain bread lover, together. So far my favorite loaf is the Blues, but I think that's because my husband won't buy 21 Whole Grains.
He does love Nuts & Grains, though, so I think he'll change his mind soon enough.
Thank you!
- Susan
Hi, Dave!
My husband and I bought our very first loaf of Dave's Killer Bread yesterday at the Alberta Cooperative Grocery. It was so incredible that we had to visit your Web site and tell you how delighted we are. Even though we'd already eaten dinner before heading to the store last night, we couldn't resist tasting one slice upon leaving the store... and then another... and then another.... By the time we got home, we had only 2/3 of a loaf remaining. This morning,I made French toast, and it was the best batch I'd ever made, all because of the hearty Good Seed crust. We can't wait to try all the other varieties in your product line.
- Emily
Hi there –
We’ve been enjoying your breads. I want to let you know that my one-year-old daughter eats it toasted every morning. She just sits in her highchair, putting piece after piece in her mouth, and smiling.
Keep on!
- cathy
This stuff is amazing! I need more! It's bad for fuel conservation because I'm going to drive all the way into Portland tomorrow from Battle Ground for the sole purpose of picking of several loaves to freeze, and to give to friends out here so that next week THEY can make the drive. I've always been a Bread Head but this stuff is over the moon. Congratulations, you've baked the perfect loaf. And THANKS!
- Barbara
My husband and I are absolutely obsessed with your Rockin' Rye bread - great texture - truly the best rye ever!
- kelley & scott
Dave,
I just want you to know that your bread is THE most delicious bread I have ever tasted in my life.
Thank you,
- Deborah
Dave,
I found your bread at New Seasons (Orenco) and tried the nuts & grains. The 1st loaf was half gone before I looked at the back of the bag and read your story. Congratulations on turning your life around and making such terrific bread. I look forward to trying them all.
- Sherie
This bread is the DRUG - I don't want to stop eating it. I bake either a 10 or 12 grain bread but your bread is beyond compare - I can see I will probably just buy your bread unless I can make something like yours.
- Colleen
Dave!
We were recentlylucky enough to sample a loaf of your cracked wheat bread via People's Coop. I want you to know we LOVE IT! We've been eating cheap bread for too long, and thanks to you, your awesome story, your superlative product, and your good energy, we are now devoted fans. Our most frequent shopping experience is at the Concordia New Seasons ... please know that we will buy your bread with smiles and happy hearts (and bodies).
Hugs and infinite bright blessings!
- Deb and Kris
Your bread is awesome - we have purchased it at the farmer's market, New Seasons, and the Alberta co-op. Everyone in the house agrees it's delicious. It's the first choice of bread for us. Keep on bakin'!
My partner of 26 years & I know our bread. We love bread & have had bread in some of the great cities of the world. We have both been bread buyers at different times in our lives.
I work for company that makes amazing artisan breads.
While buying a loaf of our usual [non-killer bread] at New Seasons-Arbor Lodge, a women suggested...no, insisted that we try DAVE'S KILLER. Wow!
It is the best bread ever...and we love bread!
Congrats & good luck, we will tell everyone we know...
- S&R
Hi Dave,
My wife and I picked up a loaf of your Good Seed at the Tigard farmers market yesterday. What a find, it was fantastic! Between the two of us more than half of the loaf was gone by 10 PM last night. I don't think the rest of the loaf will make it thru the night. We were starting to get a little worried wondering where we were going to get more until I read on your web page that New Seasons, which is just up the street, carries your breads.
We're on a mission to try them all. Dave...don't quit your day job! You've really got a talent. Thanks for the great bread.
- Jim
Dave,
I bought a loaf of bread from you at New Seasons and told you that I would write to you if my kids (4 & 5) likes your bread. They did indeed. Of course, they don't eat the crust (my favorite part) which is frustrating, but they do that to white bread too. I just cut it off and toast it for myself.
- Neysa
dave
thank goodness you got out of the joint so you could make this fabulous bread for all of us. Your's is the best bread I can remember ever having. Keep up the good work and thank you,
- Kerry
Thank you forcreating such great loaves!... we discovered yourproduct at the Alberta St. Co-op and are having a hard time buying any other bread!... Keep on bakin'... Your breadis the best.
